the National Standards Body of India has published more than 18000 Indian
Standards. Printed copy / soft copy of Indian Standards are available for
sale in the following format :
- Softcopy download from BIS sales
portal
http://www.standardsbis.in.
- Soft copy leased on DVDs for
one or more Technical Divisions or for complete set of 14 Technical
Divisions, which will be leased for one year initially,
may be renewed further on yearly basis. For details please

The customers
have the following options to purchase Indian Standards:
- Through BIS portal
http://www.standardsbis.in, the
customer can download soft copy or place order for DVD or for printed copy
on the portal.
For ordering Printed Copies, Postal & Packing Charges and Processing charges
at 5% of the value of the transaction effected through the portal will
also be applicable.
- By visiting the nearest BIS
Sales Outlet/Offices on any working day, from 1000 to 1630 h. (Lunch
hour from 1300 to 1400 h) , the customers may purchase
printed copy of the Indian Standard.

The discounts are applicable only in case of hardcopy purchases of Indian Standards.
- By sending a request to the
nearest BIS Sales Office along with Demand Draft for charges towards cost of
Standards and Postage and Packing charges, the
customer may purchase printed copy of Indian Standards. Orders for leasing
of IS on DVD are presently accepted at BIS, New Delhi and bis sales portal.
Postage and Packing Charges

Hard Copy sale
a)
Within India –
i)
If cost of publication purchased is upto and including Rs.5000, 8% of
the cost of publication purchased or Rs. 80 whichever is higher.
ii)
If cost of publication purchased is more than Rs. 5000, 5% of cost of
publication purchased or Rs 400 whichever is higher.
b) Outside India – 15% of cost of
publication purchased or Rs. 800 whichever is higher.
2. For standards leased on DVDs,
the price mentioned includes postage, packing and handling charges. Hence
separate postal and packing charges will not be levied.
3. Buyers Outside India may buy
online or contact Sales Department, BIS, New Delhi, for any clarifications.
